Boston, MA – September 8, 2026 — Lumina Pharmaceuticals, a clinical-stage radiopharmaceutical company, announced today that it has been selected as a showcase company for the 2026–2027 National Cancer Institute Small Business Innovation Research (NCI SBIR) Investor Initiatives program.
The program connects selected NCI SBIR-funded companies with potential investors and strategic partners. Participating companies may have opportunities to present at national investor showcases and communicate their technologies, development progress, and commercialization strategies to industry audiences. “As Lumina advances its imaging trial evaluating our novel, first-in-class radiopharmaceuticals targeting fibrin in the extracellular matrix surrounding solid tumors, we are honored to have support from the National Cancer Institute,” said Cara Ferreira, PhD, CEO. “We look forward to further partnerships and to engaging organizations that share our focus on clinical impact.” Lumina has developed novel radioligand therapies that bind to fibrin, a protein abundant in the microenvironment of solid tumors but not found in healthy tissue. Following FDA approval of its Investigational New Drug (IND) application, the technology is beginning Phase 0 PET imaging trials at multiple clinical sites. Previous NCI SBIR assistance has supported Lumina Pharmaceuticals as it has moved from pre-clinical development to clinical trials.
During the program period, Lumina will focus on developing further partnerships and preparing for Phase 1 studies.
